Structured light for subtle micro- and nanomachining of transparent materials and beyond
Dr. Daniel Flamm
Principal Expert, TRUMPF SE + Co. KG
Abstract: :
The combination of ultrashort laser pulses with advanced structured light concepts has led to breakthroughs in laser-based fabrication now entering industrial environments. This talk will cover the efficient generation of customized focus distributions from the near infrared to the deep ultraviolet using, e.g., non-diffracting beams and 3D-beam splitters. Exemplary applications include cutting of glasses/microoptics, drilling of through-hole-vias, selective laser etching of complex 3D structures, glass-glass and glass-metal bonding, as well as surface functionalization. We demonstrate the impact of these beam shaping concepts for subtle micro- and nanomachining and, thus, for fabrication of high density inter-connectors, bonds or optics for efficient photonics packaging.
